Class Action – Is Your Child Receiving Education Or Indoctrination At School?

Dear Reader,
Over the last six years, I have been researching the extreme politicisation of our school and university curricula, where indoctrination of woke ideologies is replacing education.
The result is evident in the falling educational outcomes of Australian children, and in the rise of unfair and emotionally charged attacks on Australian history, achievements and heroes.
Through Class Action, I will share my research findings with a wider audience – parents, grandparents and teachers like you, who know that something is not quite right with our children’s education but can’t always articulate exactly what that is. Through this research I hope to give you a better understanding of what is going on.
But Class Action is more than that. It also aims to empower parents and teachers with curriculum materials – written and designed by Australian teachers – that meet the specific requirements of the National Curriculum and can be trusted to impart fair, balanced and academically rigorous education to your children.
In my fortnightly emails you will be kept up to date on the issues and concerns about Australian education that I am uncovering and I will also be sharing new resources with you that can be used in Australian classrooms.
So let me start by introducing a seminal resource, produced by the IPA, which I believe is fundamental to the education of every Australian child, Is Western Civilisation Part of Your Life Today?.
Is Western Civilisation part of your life today? includes four comprehensive activities. Each unit is crafted to meet relevant aspects of Years 7-10 History, and Civics and Citizenship Learning Areas in the latest version of the Australian National Curriculum.

I thought that we should start with this particular resource because the modern state of Australia owes everything to Western Civilisation. Along with 775 convicts, the British colonists brought with them to Botany Bay in 1788 the seedlings of Western Civilisation. The fruits of this inherited legacy included the foundations of our political system, our governmental and administrative offices, freedoms, democratic institutions and our cultural heritage.
So what does the National Curriculum Version 9.0 – which will be rolled out in every public and private school in Australia next year – say about Australia’s debt to Western Civilisation? Virtually nothing.
While the curriculum will give students the opportunity to learn about the Australian legal system and the constitution, and touch upon the influence of our Christian and Western foundations, it is a passing mention without any serious examination of their contribution to the freedom and prosperity of Australian life.
The areas in which the curriculum does allow for elaboration are optional.
Not so in Is Western Civilisation part of your life today?. Through this unit, students develop an understanding and appreciation of the civic characteristics of Australian society – its democracy, rule of law and institutions – which make Australia a country that people from around the world wish to migrate to. Students will learn how these features did not just appear out of nowhere – their historical origins date back to the Greek and Roman times, and they were further developed in Britain from the time of Magna Carta.
This resource will ignite students’ curiosity about our past, and by the time they have finished the module, they will look at Australia with pride, not shame or indifference. I certainly don’t want this to be optional learning.
Here’s what I am asking you to do.
If you are a teacher or a parent who is home schooling your children, I hope you will use this resource to educate your students or children.
If you are a parent or a grandparent of school going children, I hope you will share this resource with their school principal. But I would also encourage you to read it yourself and use it to inspire conversations and discussions with your children. [Download here]
